Biography / Eulogy
Not every life is measured by titles, accomplishments, or public recognition. Some lives are measured by the love they leave behind.
Vanessa Lucia Geerman lived such a life.
Born and raised in Oranjestad, Aruba, Vanessa possessed a natural ability to bring comfort wherever she went. Friends often described her as someone who made people feel at ease almost instantly. She had a calm presence, a gentle voice, and a sincere interest in the lives of others.
As a young woman, Vanessa developed a love for hospitality and customer service. She spent much of her career working in Aruba's tourism sector, where she became known for her warm personality and attention to detail. Visitors frequently remembered her kindness long after returning home, and many requested her by name whenever they returned to the island.
Yet the people who knew Vanessa best knew that her greatest joy was never found in her work—it was found in her family.
She was the person who remembered every birthday, every anniversary, every graduation, and every milestone. Family gatherings seemed to revolve around her ability to bring people together and make everyone feel included.
Vanessa loved Aruba deeply. She enjoyed early morning walks along the shoreline, collecting seashells with her grandchildren, and spending evenings watching sunsets paint the sky above the Caribbean Sea. She often said that the ocean reminded her to appreciate life's blessings, both big and small.
Creativity was another important part of her life. She enjoyed crafting handmade decorations, arranging flowers, and creating thoughtful gifts for family and friends. Many people still treasure items she made with her own hands.
Her faith remained a quiet but steady influence throughout her life. She believed in treating people with kindness, extending grace whenever possible, and trusting God through both joyful and difficult seasons.
When Vanessa passed away unexpectedly in 2023, the loss was felt deeply throughout her family and community. Yet those who loved her continue to find comfort in the countless memories she created and the values she lived by.
Her legacy is found not in monuments or headlines, but in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
And that legacy remains beautifully alive.
