A life remembered

Biography / Eulogy

In Loving Memory of Vanessa Lucia Geerman

“A gentle heart, a beautiful spirit, and a life that made home feel like home.”

Vanessa Lucia Geerman was the kind of person whose presence could make an ordinary day feel a little brighter.

Born and raised in Aruba, Vanessa carried with her the warmth, resilience, and close family spirit that make the island so special. She loved the simple things in life—the sound of laughter around the dinner table, conversations that lasted longer than expected, a beautiful sunset, music playing in the background, and the comfort of being surrounded by the people she loved.

To those closest to her, Vanessa was much more than a daughter, sister, mother, wife, relative, or friend. She was often the person people turned to when they needed encouragement, a listening ear, or simply someone who would sit with them without needing to say very much.

She had a natural way of making people feel welcome.

Vanessa believed that love was often found in the little things. It was checking in on someone just because they had been on her mind. It was preparing something special for family. It was remembering birthdays, celebrating small victories, and making sure that no one left her home feeling like a stranger.

She was proud of her Aruban roots and loved the island she called home. There was something fitting about Vanessa’s personality and the place where she lived—a warmth beneath her strength, a peacefulness that could suddenly give way to laughter, and an appreciation for the beauty that could be found in everyday life.

Family was at the center of Vanessa’s world.

She treasured gatherings, stories from years gone by, photographs that brought back memories, and the traditions that connected one generation to another. She understood that the greatest treasures in life were not things that could be purchased, but the memories created with the people we love.

Vanessa also had a quiet strength.

Life was not always easy, and she experienced her share of challenges, disappointments, and difficult seasons. Yet she continued forward with courage. She learned to appreciate the people who stood beside her and never took genuine love and friendship for granted.

Those who knew her will remember her smile.

They will remember the sound of her voice, the expressions she made when she was amused, the stories she told, and the little ways she showed that she cared. They will remember the moments that may have seemed insignificant at the time but have now become precious memories.

And perhaps most of all, they will remember how Vanessa made them feel.

Loved.

Welcomed.

Seen.

Her passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot completely describe. But grief is also a reflection of love, and Vanessa was deeply loved.

Her family will continue to carry her forward—in the stories they tell, in the traditions they keep, in the lessons she taught without even realizing it, and in the love they show to one another.

There will be moments when they hear a familiar song, see a beautiful sunset over the island, prepare a meal she loved, or hear a phrase that reminds them of her, and for a brief moment it will feel as though Vanessa is close again.

Those moments are gifts.

Because although Vanessa’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave did not end with her.

Her life continues in the lives she touched.

Her memory lives in her family.

Her laughter lives in their stories.

Her kindness lives in the people she helped.

And her love will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As the people of Aruba might say, “Te oro”—until we meet again.

Rest peacefully, Vanessa Lucia Geerman.

You were loved more than words could ever say, and you will be remembered for far longer than anyone could ever imagine.
